Brief Description Organization

Family & Community Support Services (FCSS)

Thorhild County Family and Community Support services develops locally-driven, preventative social services to enhance the well-being of families, children, seniors and volunteers in Thorhild County. Services offered under this program:
  1. Assist people to develop independence, strengthen coping skills and become more resistant to crisis;
  2. Assist people to develop an awareness of social needs;
  3. Assist people to develop interpersonal and group skills which enhance constructive relationships among people;
  4. Assist people and communities to assume responsibility for decisions and actions which affect them;
  5. Provide supports that help sustain people as active participants in the community.

Summer Programs

Programs are designed for children ages 6-16 to learn new things, build new skills, interact and explore.  Check back in late spring for updates with respect to the 2024 Summer Programs! Registrations for Summer Programs are available through Thorhild County’s Online Ticketing Page.  See the link below and click County Programs to register for summer programs.  You will need to create an account, which will allow you to  register and pay online.

Volunteer Income Tax Program

The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program provides low income individuals who have basic non-complex returns with free help in completing and filing their income tax returns.

Food Bank

Residents of Thorhild County may access the Redwater Fellowship of Churches Food Bank.  Pleases call 780-942-2061 for more information.  If you experience difficulty in being able to pick up items from the Food Bank please contact our office to see if we can assist.

Family School Liaison Program

Thorhild County FCSS in partnership with Aspen View Public School provides support services to children of school age and their families to strengthen and stabilize school, family and community life. The program address issues such as:
  • building self-esteem
  • social interaction and relationships
  • managing emotions
  • coping with stress
  • family issues
  • separation anxiety
  • effective communication

Christmas Hampers

During the Christmas Season this campaign provide food hampers and gifts for those in need.
